We Surround Them

A friend of mine told me about a campaign that Glenn Beck is running called "We Surround Them." The concept is that we as conservatives may feel very alone at this point with the "take over" of the left wing, radical, liberal administration we are being plagued with (my words, not Mr. Beck's). We don't like the direction our country is moving and we feel somewhat helpless. We read the headlines and get a sinking feeling in our stomachs. We feel like screaming, but no one will hear us. Do you feel this way?

To quote Glenn Beck:
If so, then you’ve fallen for the Wizard of Oz lie. While the voices you hear in the distance may sound intimidating, as if they surround us from all sides—the reality is very different. Once you pull the curtain away you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak. The truth is that they don’t surround us at all. We surround them. So, how do we show America what’s really behind the curtain?

Go to the following web site: http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/21018/?ck=1

Read the information here, the 9 Principles and 12 Values that are laid out on the page. If you agree with them (or even most of them), follow the link and let your voice be heard. We are NOT alone.

First and foremost, God is with us (as always) - HE is in control. Personally, I also believe that He expects us to be good soldiers and stand up for what we believe in.

Keep the faith!

Quotes from Thomas Jefferson

A friend of mine sent me an e-mail message with several quotes from Thomas Jefferson. He sounds like he was a very wise man........

  • I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
  • The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
  • My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
  • No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
  • The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
  • It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
  • When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe .
  • The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Love this one.....In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what he said in 1802:

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Stimulus Package or just more pork spending?

Well, Obama has been in office less than a month and I do have to say he has a 100% record with me......I haven't agreed with him on anything yet. Now, he has this HUGE spending bill which he is calling a "stimulus" package. First of all, I don't believe for one second that this is "his bill." I personally believe it is the "Nancy Pelosi" bill. But, no matter, it is still full of holes.

When will the democrats learn that taxing the country into oblivion is not good for the economy? Obama has been screaming gloom and doom for the nation if they don't pass his bill right away; yet, I can remember a few years ago George Bush was strongly criticized when he raised a red flag about the nation's economy (not that there is a double-standard here).

Just a few of the items in the Obama (Pelosi) "pork" package are:

1. "Green" Jobs (whatever that entails)
2. Family planning - birth control for children and immigrants (although I believe this one got pulled out of the bill)
3. 300 Million for STD prevention
4. Refundable tax credits for people who don't pay taxes
5. Over $142 billion in Federal Education funds
6. $87 billion Medicare bailout
7. A National Healthcare policy (socialized medicine)
8. $600 million for government cars
9. $650 million for Digital TV coupons
10. $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts

The list goes on.....

Supposedly this is going to create all sorts of jobs - government jobs. Just what we need.....more government employees. I live in Delaware and the largest employer in the state of Delaware is the government. I can remember a few years ago, the government employees went "on strike" and no one noticed. Well...except the traffic was less in the area - other than that.....no one noticed. Hmmmmm.

Recess at the Asylum

A friend of mine sent this to me. Sorry....I just couldn't resist.....
