Letter to Obama from a Veteran

I received the letter below from my uncle. All I can add to what this wonderful veteran says is AMEN!

This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken out before about a government official, until now. He dictated this letter to a friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

"We're no longer a Christian nation"

" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even announced to the world, "America is mean-spirited." Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I'd say shame on the both of you but I don't think you like America nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals." Which ones did you mean?

1. Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British?

2. Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War?

3. I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around because we stand for freedom.

4. I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man. Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Sincerely,

Harold B. Estes

Martha Stewart

I have never been a fan of Martha Stewart - the only thing I have really enjoyed are the multiple jokes about her that I have seen circulating (sorry, I just can't help it). So, imagine my disgust when I heard of her disparaging remarks about Sarah Palin during an interview on CNN's Showbiz tonight.

Here is exactly what Martha says about Sarah: "She's very boring to me, very boring. And a very, to me, kind of a dangerous person. I mean, she's dangerous. She speaks, she's, she's so confused. And anyone like that in government is a real problem." Martha also stated that she wouldn't watch Sarah Palin if you paid her.

Where does one begin to tear this apart? First of all, it is laughable that someone as boring as Martha Stewart would have the guts to call anyone boring - especially Sarah Palin. Second of all, Sarah Palin is dangerous??? How is she dangerous? Is she dangerous because she actually has a brain in her head and Martha is jealous of that? Thirdly, she wouldn't watch her if you paid her? So then, how can she call her boring if she won't even watch her. Maybe if she watched her and listened to her she would learn something.

Lastly Martha, I am the one who is confused. Explain to me how a convicted felon who has served jail time can justify calling Sarah Palin dangerous. I am confused how you can support the socialist president in the Whitehouse now who seems intent on destroying this country. I am confused how Sarah Palin's views on America and how people need to depend LESS on government is dangerous. I am confused that you would say anyone like that in government is a real problem - especially with the current administration (who is a real problem).

Mostly I am confused as to why anyone listened to you to begin with.

ACLU - Christmas Cards

I received this idea from two of my friends.

Please pass on to church, coworkers, family and friends. You only have 44 cents to loose and you just might gain more than you'll ever know.

Send the ACLU a Christmas card this year. As they are working so hard to get rid of the Christmas part of this holiday we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.

Make sure it says MERRY CHRISTMAS on it.

Here's the address - but, please, don't be rude or crude (its not the Christian way, ya know?)

ACLU
125 Broad St
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So, spend 44 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also, tell them there is no such thing as a "Holiday" tree - it is now and always has been a Christmas Tree.

Pass this on to all you know. We really want to communicate with the ACLU. They really DESERVE us!!

For those of you who might not be aware, the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is the one suing the US Gov't (us) to take God, Christmas or anything Christian away from us. They represent the atheists and Muslims and others in this war.

Help put Christ back in Christmas.

Twas the Month Before Christmas

I don't know who wrote this, but a friend of mine sent it to me. It is sadly true.

Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree' Sipping
your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS , not Happy Holiday!

Please, all Christians join together and wish everyone you meet during
the holidays a MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

Hillary Clinton - Blatant Exclusion of Reagan's Contribution

So.........Hillary Clinton represented the U.S. at the 20th Anniversary celebration of the fall of the Berlin wall. How in the world can you give a speech about the fall of the Berlin wall without even mentioning Ronald Reagan? Is she so stupid that she doesn't know how key his role was? I don't think so.....I think it's just blatant disrespect. Had it been one of the Kennedy's, I'm sure her speech would have been a little bit different.

Ronald Reagan, in my opinion, was the greatest president of my time - probably the greatest EVER. Who can forget his "Tear down this wall" speech? It was so powerful. I watched it again this morning and was so moved by the sincerity and brilliance of Ronald Reagan. I pray that someday, God will give us another president like Ronald Reagan to try to get this country back on track. He forever has my respect.

For anyone who wants to see it, here is a link to a portion of that powerful speech:

Father/Daughter Talk - Democrat vs. Republican

One of my friends sent this to me awhile ago and I thought it was a wonderful analogy demonstrating the difference between a Democrat and Republican.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, “How is your friend Audrey doing?” She replied, “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.”

Her wise father asked his daughter, “Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.”

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, “That's a crazy idea, and how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, “Welcome to the Republican party.”

"A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man ... a debt he proposes to pay off with your money."

Victory!

I woke up early this morning and couldn't wait to turn on the morning news to find out who won the New Jersey and Virginia Governor races. Living in Delaware, I have been subjected to numerous television ads for Democrat, John Corzine. It was just beyond me how anyone could vote for him, but the race was extremely close between Corzine and Republican Chris Christie. I was so very thankful to wake up this morning to hear that Republican Christie won! I would hear Corzine's "negative" ads about Christie (well....they were supposed to be negative), but those ads just convinced me that Christie was the right choice. For example, Corzine's ads would disclose the fact that Christie was against a "woman's right to choose". Well... GOOD FOR CHRISTIE! It's about time that Republicans stand up for conservative values. I truly believe that wavering on conservative values and principles is the cause of so many Republican losses in recent elections.

Not only did Christie win, but in Virginia, Republican Robert McDonnell easily defeated Democrat R. Creigh Deeds in the gubernatorial election there. Both New Jersey and Virginia were won by Obama last year in the presidential election. Obama actively campaigned for both democratic candidates for governor, but thankfully, the people didn't fall for it. It goes to show that Obama really had no influence on the election - I think "the anointed one" is losing ground.

As if the wins in New Jersey and Virginia weren't enough, I heard that Maine voters repealed the gay marriage law. Gay marriage has been on the ballot now in 31 states and has been shot down in all 31 states. Obviously, there are a lot of people in this nation who do not fall into the Hollywood glamorizing and promoting "unnatural affection."

Could this be the beginning of a turn for this nation? One can only hope and pray. This is proof that the elections in 2010 are more important than ever. We know that the Lord is always in control. We just pray that He will hear our prayers and let us take back our nation from the liberals who are trying to destroy it.

Update to Yesterday's Zero Tolerance Post

Well....common sense actually prevailed! It seems that after being inundated by over 1000 phones calls, national media attention, and a couple hundred protesters, the Christina School District Board has unanimously voted to change their "Zero Tolerance" policy. First grader Zachary Christie, who was suspended and ordered to go to Reform School for 45 days for bringing his camping utensil to school can return to school today. The rule has now been changed to be a 3-5 day suspension and then "counseling" if someone brings a "weapon" to school.

These people were out of control in this district - what a ridiculous thing it would have been for this little boy to have to go to reform school. Thankfully, he is back in school (I guess that's a good thing....personally, I think he would have been better off to be home schooled, but the family got their wish, so I guess it's OK).

Zero Tolerance

Well, I live in Delaware and was very dismayed to see the Christina School District in Newark, Delaware not only on the local news, but on the national news this morning. It seems that little 6 year old Zachary Christie had just become a cub scout and was very excited about a new camping utensil he had received. It was a "combo" camping utensil that was a spoon, fork, knife combination. In his excitement, he brought it to school and wanted to use it to eat his lunch. This child is a straight A student, never gets in any trouble and even wears a suit to school some days because he takes it so seriously.

So, what happened to him? He got suspended for 45 days and is being sent to REFORM SCHOOL. His mother is instead home schooling him. Personally, I think the child is much better off being home schooled by his mom - she seems to be a level headed, bright individual who has a lot more sense than those idiots in the school system. However, the little boy would like to go back to school and feels that he has been treated unfairly. The family is not arguing that there shouldn't be rules about bringing weapons to school, but that each case be treated individually and look at the "intention" of the child. For example, if a child brings a weapon and is threatening people, or is waving it around, or has been in trouble a lot, then by all means, punish them accordingly. But this child (Zachary) had a camping utensil that he used at home to eat his meals and wanted to do the same at school.

Explain to me how "reform school" could serve any useful purpose in this situation. I am just appalled at the treatment of this little boy. I've already e-mailed the President of the School Board, George Evans (who is standing by the board's suspension) - not that I expect a reply, but I just felt like I had to do something. The district supposedly has a "zero tolerance" policy and is not budging. Ridiculous.

Certainly, the shootings at Columbine and Virginia Tech were tragic, horrible events, but there has to be some common sense kick in at some point. Pray for little Zachary.

Obama - Still Waiting.......

Well.....the troops in Afghanistan are still waiting for Obama to decide whether or not he is going to send more troops over there (the request has been on his desk for how long????) But, Obama is very, very busy - after his trip to Denmark to try to bring the Olympics to the U.S., now, he is now campaigning to bring an end to the "don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military. So, yet another "obamanation" in the making.......

The troops still wait.......

Nobel Peace Prize - Obama???

When I heard the morning news yesterday, I thought I was hearing things - Obama is being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.??? Now I know for a fact, that you don't really have to do anything to receive the Peace Prize.

Where do I begin? First of all, I understand that he was actually nominated for the prize after being in office only 12 days. He still hasn't done anything worthwhile, but most certainly in the first 12 days, he certainly didn't do anything to earn a Nobel Peace Prize.

I thought that GOP Rep. Gresham Barrett, who is running for governor of South Carolina, said it best. He said, "I'm not sure what the international community loved best; his waffling on Afghanistan, pulling defense missiles out of Eastern Europe, turning his back on freedom fighters in Honduras, coddling Castro, siding with Palestinians against Israel, or almost getting tough on Iran." Very well said!

Here we have a president who can't make a decision on sending needed troops to Afghanistan, yet he can take the time to make a trip to Denmark to attempt to bring the Olympics to Chicago (a failed attempt I might add).

I guess his teleprompter isn't helping him much in making major decisions, hmmmm????

The Ant and the Grasshopper

My cousin sent me this story today – Two different versions with two different morals of the story “The Ant and the Grasshopper”. Unfortunately, the modern version seems more the story of today’s world.

OLD VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food, America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.' corn stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We Shall Overcome.' Rev. Jeremiah Wright then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake. Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar. The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ants food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2010!

Jimmy Carter - Still an Idiot

Well....Jimmy Carter (one of the worst presidents in US history) has announced that Joe Wilson's outburst last week where he shouted "you lie" at the president is "based on racism." I get SO tired of the democrats/liberals using the "race card" anytime someone disagrees with "the anointed one" - Obama. Guess what Jimmy? It has absolutely nothing to do with racism. The president IS a liar and a socialist and might actually beat you out as the worst president in US history - and not because he is black, but because of his policies.

Joe Wilson's son was interviewed after Carter made his horrible accusation and here is what he had to say: "There is not a racist bone in my dad's body," said Alan Wilson, an Iraq veteran who is running for state attorney general in South Carolina. "He doesn't even laugh at distasteful jokes. I won't comment on former President Carter, because I don't know President Carter. but I know my dad, and it's just not in him. It's unfortunate people make that jump. People can disagree — and appropriately disagree — on issues of substance, but when they make the jump to race it's absolutely ludicrous. My brothers and I were raised by our parents to respect everyone regardless of background or race."

I think former president Carter should apologize for this outrage. And....by the way.....I do NOT think that Joe Wilson had anything to apologize for. Yesterday's "Admonishment" by Democratic members of Congress was ridiculous. As I said before, where were the admonishments when democrats were doing the same thing to George Bush? It's shameful.

Joe Biden Embarrassed??

So....Joey Biden was on Good Morning America and said Joe Wilson's outburst made him "embarrassed for the chamber and Congress I love." Puleeeze! Give me a break. I live in the state of Delaware where Joey was our Senator for YEARS and he embarrassed me more times over the years than I would care to count. I can't believe he would have the nerve to say someone else "embarrassed" him.

Where was his outrage over Ted Kennedy all the times that he called George Bush a Liar? Where was everyone's outrage when George Bush was speaking before congress and the democrats were disrespectful to him? I heard clips over the radio yesterday of the times that President Bush was speaking and it was disgraceful the way the democrats were yammering. As the host of the radio show brought to our attention, the difference was that Joe Wilson's comments stood out because he was the only one shouting. When the democrats did it to George Bush, there were so many of them shouting that you couldn't distinguish what they were saying.

Personally, I don't think Joe Wilson had anything to apologize for - I only wish he were MY congressman - I would be PROUD.

Now, I understand that Joe Wilson is under attack more than ever from the liberal left. They are out to get him - his re-election is at stake. They are trying to raise funds to stop him. If you are so inclined, here is his website where you can contribute to Joe Wilson's re-election.

We need more representatives like Joe Wilson. I am not embarrassed by him in the least - on the contrary - I am proud of him and thankful for people like him.

Obama's speech

I must admit, I didn't sit in front of the TV last night and listen to Obama's 45 minute health care propaganda speech - I just can't take it listening to Obama's rhetoric and watching the smug, smiling, ogling faces of Nancy Pelosi and Joey Biden. It makes me physically sick to my stomach. However, I did feel obliged to listen to the news this morning to hear the various clips of the speech. The liberal mainstream media called them "highlights" - the only highlight I saw was when Joe Wilson, a representative from South Carolina, shouted "You lie" when Obama said that illegal immigrants would not be covered under his plan. Sadly, Wilson apologized for his outburst, but personally I believe he screamed what I think every single one of the Republicans should have screamed. I understand that this was a show of "disrespect" for the President and I get that; however, respect has to be earned, and this president has done nothing but lie and promote ungodly activity and I have not one single ounce of respect for him. But....on to the issues at hand.

One of the many things that has bothered me about this health care fiasco is "how is it going to be paid for?" So......Obama said last night that it would cost the tax payers very little (yeah, right....) and that they would cut some of the wasteful spending in order to pay for it. My suggestion is......how about cut the wasteful spending NOW and then talk about the next steps. I guess my other question is - why would I trust the very ones who created the wasteful spending to manage my health care? It's like putting the fox in charge of the hen house. Our lawmakers have proven themselves to be very "free spending" and wasteful with OUR money. They can't be trusted.

Obama is always ready to accuse Republicans of being partisan - yet, from what I saw, Obama was very critical of his opponents and told lies (which is normal for him). Obama is losing ground in the polls quickly (thank The Lord). Seniors are getting really nervous about this plan (and rightfully so). Do you want the people who have ruined social security, welfare, the school systems and anything else they have touched to be in charge of your health care? Have you ever been to Motor Vehicle? It will make you want to slit your throat. Do you want the government deciding about your doctors and your health care? You should think long and hard about this and contact your congressmen and senators. Let your voice be heard. Let's take this country back!

Edward Kennedy - Why is He Being Hailed as a Hero?

I have been watching the mainstream media glorifying Senator Edward Kennedy after his passing last week from brain cancer. Most certainly, I sympathize with a family losing a loved one, and feel very bad for them for the sadness they must be feeling. However, the way the media and many of his colleagues are talking, you would have thought the man was a saint. Sadly, many are using this as an opportunity to further their causes. I even heard one say that the President should use the eulogy to bring support to the Health Care bill….and I even heard talk of them calling the bill the “Kennedy Bill.” Ick...

This is a man who committed murder back in 1969 – perhaps it was unintentional, nonetheless, he was responsible for the death of a young woman, Mary Jo Kopechne on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts. I remember it very well and remember his press conference after he was “found out.” Here’s how it went….

At a party on Chappaquiddick Island on July 19, 1969 at around 11:00 PM, Kennedy borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo Kopechne, a 28 year old campaign worker. When he was driving off the island, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and the car went into the water. Kennedy managed to get himself out of the car, then swam to shore and walked back to the party. He passed by several houses and a fire station. Two friends returned with him to the scene of the accident. According to their testimony later, they told Kennedy that he was required by law to immediately report the accident to the authorities (which of course he already knew). Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep. (What a guy!) Meanwhile, Mary Jo lay dead at the bottom of the pond in the car.

Kennedy didn’t call the police until the next morning. By this time, the wreck had already been discovered. Before she died, Mary Jo Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car obviously trying to get out (could he have saved her and didn’t – we’ll never know). The Kennedy family, of course, began pulling strings, ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Unfortunately, her body was whisked out-of-state to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Details are uncertain, but Kennedy claimed that after the accident he repeatedly dove under the water trying to rescue Kopechne. He claimed he didn't call police because he was in a state of shock (yet he was able to go back to the party, get his friends and go back to the scene of the accident – why then didn’t the friends call the police if he was in shock?) Speculation is that Kennedy was drunk, that he was possibly having an affair with Kopechne, and/or that he held off calling police in hopes that his family could take care of the problem overnight.

In the end, Kennedy pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, and was given a suspended sentence of two months (a slap on the wrist). Kopechne's family received a small payout from the Kennedy's insurance policy, and never sued. In later years, there were efforts to have her body exhumed and autopsied, but her family successfully fought against this in court (and Kennedy's family paid their attorney's bills).

I loved what I read this weekend about what Kennedy said from the Senate floor during Nixon’s Watergate scandal - "Do we operate under a system of equal justice under law? Or is there one system for the average citizen and another for the high and mighty?" Huh???? Did he really have the nerve to say that?? I also heard a friend of his being interviewed after Kennedy’s death, and he said that one of Kennedy’s favorite topics of humor was Chappaquiddick. He said that Kennedy would ask “have you heard any new jokes about Chappaquiddick?” Can you believe the arrogance and insensitivity of this man? Unbelievable.

This is also a man who has supported abortion rights and the killing of innocent unborn children. There was also another scandal a few years ago with one of his nephews being accused of rape (of which he was acquitted). Evidently the whole episode started when Edward Kennedy woke his son and nephew in the middle of the night so that they could go drinking (again I say….what a guy!) A young woman evidently met the group at the bar and went back to the Kennedy compound with them and that’s when the rape charges were made. How old was Edward Kennedy at the time??? Probably around 60 -- old enough to know better.

Sorry, but in my mind, this is not a man to be adored, placed on a pedestal and held in high esteem –on the contrary.

In any case, one has to wonder how he managed to survive politically over the past 40 years. I have to question the Massachusetts voters, but then again, we are living in a country that elected a community organizer as president, so why bother asking a stupid question.

Again, I feel badly for his family, but I am totally outraged at the way he has been revered and honored – it’s unconscionable in my mind. Hero???? I don't think so. Sorry.

Our Worthless Congress at "Work"

Well......here we are in the midst of a health care debate. Tempers are flaring. The Town Hall meetings are becoming really fun! I really want to attend one!

One of the things that bothers me most about this Obamacare bill is that I have never believed that these congressmen and senators are actually reading this outrageous bill. Now, someone finally admitted it. Charlie Rangel (representative from NY) has said that he "hasn't had time to read the bill", nor does he intend to read any of it. He says that it "would take 2 lawyers" to help him understand any of the bill".

Excuse my outrage, but what is his job anyway? Isn't he supposed to be a representative for the people. Isn't it his job to read the bills before he votes? Look what happens when people don't understand what is really going on - you get Obama for a president. No matter what people say ignorance really is not bliss.

For a US Congressman to say they haven't read a bill (especially one such as this one that the country will be reeling from for years) is unconscionable. Where is the liberal media on this? Why aren't people screaming about this. Never mind.......Obama has them in his pocket. Sigh......

Gotta love this kid!

A friend of mine sent me this yesterday - I thought it was hilarious!

A teacher in New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans. Not really knowing what an Obama fan was, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny. The teacher asked Little Johnny why he decided to be Different ... again.

Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not an Obama fan.'

The teacher said, 'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'

Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Republican.'

The teacher asked why he's a Republican. Little Johnny answered, 'Well, My Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican. '

The teacher asks, 'If your Mom was a moron and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, 'That Would make me an Obama fan.'

Don't you just love Little Johnny??

Kennedy Replacement

I saw an article this morning about the replacement for Ted Kennedy as Senator of The Socialist Republic of Massachusetts. Unlike some states, his replacement will not be chosen by the Governor, but by a special election. As it turns out, several years ago, this was not the case. When John Kerry was running for President, Mitt Romney was Governor of Massachusetts (and would have been the one to choose Kerry's replacement should he win the presidency). The democrats didn't want this to happen so they managed to change the law so that there would be a special election (thereby preventing Romney from appointing a Republican). (Thankfully, it was a moot point as Kerry didn't win)

Evidently last week, Kennedy (no doubt knowing of his impending death) asked Massachusetts lawmakers to change the law BACK to having the governor choose the replacement (as their current governor is a liberal democrat who supports Obama). Don't you love how democrats want the laws changed to suit their personal interests? Is this poetic justice?

Obamacare - Lies Lies Lies

I am on an e-mail list for Dick Morris and the League of American Voters. The following is text from one of those e-mails. It lists and explains 5 of the BIG LIES about the Obama Health Care plan. There are certainly more, but Mr. Morris describes these particular ones as "Five of the Big Whoppers":

Lie #1: 'You Keep Your Doctor, You Keep Your Insurer'

This is a complete fabrication.

Under plans Obama has backed in the House and the Senate, almost any business can opt their employees into the "public option" — the government health plan.

That means you could lose your insurer. And if your doctor is worth his salt, you'll lose him or her as well.

Why? Because great doctors probably will not want to get the very low rates the government will pay private doctors who are part of the new government system.

So, without your consent, you very easily could lose your insurer and your doctor.

Lie #2: The Elderly Will Not Face Rationing or Medicare Cuts

More baloney.

In fact, just last week, The New York Times, a very liberal and very pro-Obama newspaper, admitted that fears of rationing for elderly patients are "not irrational."

The truth is that Obamacare would almost 50 million new patients to government care.

Who would pay for it? You would!

Seniors on Medicare will be the first hit.

Here's what the Times reported: "Bills now in Congress would squeeze savings out of Medicare, a lifeline for the elderly, on the assumption that doctors and hospitals can be more efficient."

This means that faceless bureaucrats will decide the type and quality of your care.

It is a very dangerous thing to give your life and well-being over to government bureaucrats!

Imagine if you or a loved one is older than 80 years and critically needs heart surgery.

Instead of getting the heart procedure, you or that loved one could be informed that you are simply too old.

Lie #3: There Will Be No "Death Panels."

More lies.

Sure, they don't call them "death panels" in the legislation, but that's what their job will be.

These committee members will set guidelines with which faceless bureaucrats will make decisions about you and your healthcare.

They will decide who lives and who dies. They decide who gets critical procedures and expensive medicines.

Again, according to the New York Times, the Democratic plans call for saving money by creating new oversight committees.

The Times says that Medicare and insurers would be expected to follow "advice from a new federal panel of medical experts on 'what treatments work best.'”

Again, this very liberal paper concluded: "The zeal for cutting health costs, combined with proposals to compare the effectiveness of various treatments and to counsel seniors on end-of-life care, may explain why some people think the legislation is about rationing, which could affect access to the most expensive services in the final months of life."

Lie #4: The Obama Plan Contains Costs

Absolute nonsense.

The Obama plan will cost more than $1 trillion in new federal outlays, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

This past weekend, Sen. Joe Lieberman claimed that most of this cost comes from adding 50 million people, currently uninsured, to the government health system.

But as Lieberman pointed out, we just don't have the money to do this right now.

You can add only so many people to the government system by cutting medical care to seniors on Medicare and raising taxes.

Democrats clearly plan to do both.

Lie #5: Illegals Are Not Covered by Obamacare

President Obama has stated time and again that illegal aliens are not covered under his new plan.

Still, Democrats say they want to add almost 50 million uninsured. Yet almost one-quarter of these uninsured are illegal aliens.

None of the Democratic plans excludes illegal aliens.

In fact, when Republicans proposed an amendment to the House plan to block illegals from getting free government healthcare, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her minions soundly defeated the motion.

Many, many lies are emanating from Washington today.

NBC Store

OK.......I realize I haven't posted for awhile and now 3 in one day. I guess my outrage over this current administration is coming to a boiling point.

I was watching Fox News this morning (the only fair and balanced news), and saw their story about the NBC Store's "Obama Merchandise". Give me a break!

Some of the Obama merchandise includes an "Obama Action Figure" (I wonder if it's programmed to steal your money???) Then there is a tee shirt with his picture and the phrase "Yes We Did" - (I guess since the NBC Store is selling this, it means that NBC and Obama "did it"????) We all know that they slanted the news in favor of Obama during the election (and continue to do so).

I had to laugh at Laura Ingraham who was being interviewed about this on Fox News (of course she is one of my favorites anyway). She said that she was certain they had Sarah Palin merchandise there as well (so that NBC was balanced) - then in the next breath, she said they probably had Sarah Palin voodoo dolls and were sticking pins in it.

So.....there are evidently 29 "Obama" items for sale at the NBC Store - so for all those people who want memorabilia of "the Anointed One" can visit the NBC store. Personally, I think I will pass. I think I'll go for the "Impeach Obama" tee shirt I saw on another site.

Michelle Obama's Staff

So.......Sarah Palin gets crucified over her wardrobe when she was running for VP last year - where is all the outrage over the taxpayer dollars being spent by Michelle Obama for her "staff".

I love this quote from Michelle - "In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much," she said. "See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service."

I totally understand that the First Lady would need to have some staff in her role, but this woman is totally out of control. For someone who wants to "give back" she certainly has no problem whatsoever taking from the taxpayers! Of course, this current administration is going to tax the country into the proverbial poor house.

Here are a few examples of the current First Lady's staff:
  • $172,2000 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
  • $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President & Director of Policy and Projects For The First Lady)
  • $113,000 - Rogers, Desiree G. (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary)
  • $102,000 - Johnston, Camille (Special Assistant to the President & Director of Communications for the First Lady)
  • $90,000 - Medina, David S. (Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
  • $84,000 - Lelyveld, Catherine M. (Director and Press Secretary to the First Lady)
  • $75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady)
  • $70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)
  • $65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
  • $62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (Deputy Director of Scheduling and Events Coordinator For The First Lady)
  • $60,000 - Fitts, Alan O. (Deputy Director of Advance and Trip Director for the First Lady)
  • $52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (Associate Director and Deputy Press Secretary To The First Lady)
  • $50,000 - Jarvis, Kristen E. (Special Assistant for Scheduling and Traveling Aide To The First Lady)
  • $45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (Associate Director of Correspondence For The First Lady)
  • $40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (Executive Assistant to the Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
  • $36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary)
Could someone explain to me what some of these people do? Is this really necessary? I guess she sees her hubby so willing to squander hard working people's money, she decided to just follow his example.

How many more days until the next election? Sigh.........

Let me get this straight......

A friend of mine sent me this, and I couldn't resist posting it! How true!

Let me get this straight...
Obama's health care plan will be.....
1. Written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it
2. Passed by a Congress that hasn't read it
3. Signed by a president who smokes
4. Funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes
5. Overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and
6. Financed by a country that is nearly broke.

What possibly could go wrong?

We Surround Them

A friend of mine told me about a campaign that Glenn Beck is running called "We Surround Them." The concept is that we as conservatives may feel very alone at this point with the "take over" of the left wing, radical, liberal administration we are being plagued with (my words, not Mr. Beck's). We don't like the direction our country is moving and we feel somewhat helpless. We read the headlines and get a sinking feeling in our stomachs. We feel like screaming, but no one will hear us. Do you feel this way?

To quote Glenn Beck:
If so, then you’ve fallen for the Wizard of Oz lie. While the voices you hear in the distance may sound intimidating, as if they surround us from all sides—the reality is very different. Once you pull the curtain away you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak. The truth is that they don’t surround us at all. We surround them. So, how do we show America what’s really behind the curtain?

Go to the following web site: http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/21018/?ck=1

Read the information here, the 9 Principles and 12 Values that are laid out on the page. If you agree with them (or even most of them), follow the link and let your voice be heard. We are NOT alone.

First and foremost, God is with us (as always) - HE is in control. Personally, I also believe that He expects us to be good soldiers and stand up for what we believe in.

Keep the faith!

Quotes from Thomas Jefferson

A friend of mine sent me an e-mail message with several quotes from Thomas Jefferson. He sounds like he was a very wise man........

  • I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
  • The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
  • My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
  • No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
  • The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
  • It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
  • When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe .
  • The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Love this one.....In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what he said in 1802:

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Stimulus Package or just more pork spending?

Well, Obama has been in office less than a month and I do have to say he has a 100% record with me......I haven't agreed with him on anything yet. Now, he has this HUGE spending bill which he is calling a "stimulus" package. First of all, I don't believe for one second that this is "his bill." I personally believe it is the "Nancy Pelosi" bill. But, no matter, it is still full of holes.

When will the democrats learn that taxing the country into oblivion is not good for the economy? Obama has been screaming gloom and doom for the nation if they don't pass his bill right away; yet, I can remember a few years ago George Bush was strongly criticized when he raised a red flag about the nation's economy (not that there is a double-standard here).

Just a few of the items in the Obama (Pelosi) "pork" package are:

1. "Green" Jobs (whatever that entails)
2. Family planning - birth control for children and immigrants (although I believe this one got pulled out of the bill)
3. 300 Million for STD prevention
4. Refundable tax credits for people who don't pay taxes
5. Over $142 billion in Federal Education funds
6. $87 billion Medicare bailout
7. A National Healthcare policy (socialized medicine)
8. $600 million for government cars
9. $650 million for Digital TV coupons
10. $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts

The list goes on.....

Supposedly this is going to create all sorts of jobs - government jobs. Just what we need.....more government employees. I live in Delaware and the largest employer in the state of Delaware is the government. I can remember a few years ago, the government employees went "on strike" and no one noticed. Well...except the traffic was less in the area - other than that.....no one noticed. Hmmmmm.

The Fox and the Hen House

So, Obama chose Timothy Geithner to be his Treasury Secretary. Here is a guy who will be running the IRS, and yet he didn't pay his taxes? Talk about the fox guarding the hen house!

It amazes me that from an ethics standpoint, Obama hasn't asked him to withdraw his name from consideration, but why should I be amazed? So, if Obama doesn't have the wisdom to ask for him to withdraw, would you not think that Geithner himself would withdraw? Of course not. Obviously, ethics and values mean nothing to this administration. It's a total free for all!

With the tax "issues" that Geithner has had, the IRS would be prohibited from hiring him. Yet, he now will become the head of the IRS thanks to our "wonderful" congressmen and senators, not to mention King Obama....I mean President Obama (it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth).

I can't believe that there isn't a "qualified" individual out there who could be the Treasury Secretary, but I guess Obama isn't looking for qualified. What's next? Will he put a child molester in charge of the school system?

Gaffes run in the Biden Family

Well.....I don't watch Oprah (and don't plan on starting), but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the clips on the news where Joe and Jill Biden were on Oprah this week. Jill Biden told the world that Obama offered Joe "either the Vice Presidency or Secretary of State". I guess Hilary was second choice?? You can see it on You Tube - Joe is trying to shut her up, but she keeps talking. It's hysterical. I guess Joe's "open mouth, insert foot" traits have worn off on Jill. I can imagine the conversation after the show....Joe saying...."next time honey, just sit there and smile pretty....please don't open your mouth."

The Obama camp tried to deny the story, but it's pretty obvious that Jill was telling the facts. If you don't believe me, see it for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS-hu_LgwLs&feature=related

Inaugural Poem

Here is the transcript from the poem written by Elizabeth Alexander and read by her at Obama's Coronation (I mean Inauguration). The first word that comes to my mind is.....HUH???? But, maybe this was intended to somehow make Obama's speech sound good compared to this???

Each day we go about our business,
walking past each other, catching each other’s
eyes or not, about to speak or speaking.

All about us is noise. All about us is
noise and bramble, thorn and din, each
one of our ancestors on our tongues.

Someone is stitching up a hem, darning
a hole in a uniform, patching a tire,
repairing the things in need of repair.

Someone is trying to make music somewhere,
with a pair of wooden spoons on an oil drum,
with cello, boom box, harmonica, voice.

A woman and her son wait for the bus.
A farmer considers the changing sky.
A teacher says, Take out your pencils. Begin.

We encounter each other in words, words
spiny or smooth, whispered or declaimed,
words to consider, reconsider.

We cross dirt roads and highways that mark
the will of some one and then others, who said
I need to see what’s on the other side.

I know there’s something better down the road.
We need to find a place where we are safe.
We walk into that which we cannot yet see.

Say it plain: that many have died for this day.
Sing the names of the dead who brought us here,
who laid the train tracks, raised the bridges,

picked the cotton and the lettuce, built
brick by brick the glittering edifices
they would then keep clean and work inside of.

Praise song for struggle, praise song for the day.
Praise song for every hand-lettered sign,
the figuring-it-out at kitchen tables.

Some live by love thy neighbor as thyself,
others by first do no harm or take no more
than you need. What if the mightiest word is love?

Love beyond marital, filial, national,
love that casts a widening pool of light,
love with no need to pre-empt grievance.

In today’s sharp sparkle, this winter air,
any thing can be made, any sentence begun.
On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp,

praise song for walking forward in that light.

Another Sad Day

I haven't written on my blog for awhile. Between the holidays and work commitments, I haven't had the time or energy to write. Today though, I guess I just need to let off a little bit of steam.

Living in Delaware, home of Joe Biden, has been extremely depressing this past week. The Obama train is coming from Philadelphia to Wilmington Delaware today to "pick up" Joe Biden at the Wilmington Train Station en route to DC. The entire tristate area is in a frenzy awaiting the arrival of the great messiah Obama. Business is at a stand-still. My colleague had to take the Amtrak to NY from Wilmington on Thursday and all the parking garages were closed in the area. Why did they close them on Thursday when he wasn't coming until Saturday? Parking right across from the train station and walking over is unsafe on a good day, so thanks to the closings, my colleague had to park blocks away and walk (which was very scary for her). Bleachers are being installed at a park near the train station for this "historic" event. If I hear the local news media beaming about "his historic journey to Washington" one more time, I think I'll scream.

My husband wanted to go to Wilmington to see Biden off with a HUGE poster saying "Good Riddance Joe" but we would fear for our very lives if we did that. (Of course, we wouldn't really do it, but it is fun to think about).

It is bitter cold in our area today (8 degrees) and the news media is instructing all the "spectators" attending this "historic" event on how to dress to avoid hypothermia. (Well.....I guess those who voted for Obama aren't too bright so the instruction is probably warranted). 30th Street Station in Philadelphia is also pretty much "locked down" today. This is a huge train station and a main stop for the Amtrak trains so I can't imagine how that will impact travel today for "regular folk". But.....all for a good cause......after all......this is a "historic event" before the "coronation" of "the anointed one." Pulllleeeeezzzze - give me a break.

Sorry for all the sarcasm - I'm normally not this sarcastic but I reached my boiling point watching the drive-by media this week - I honestly thought they were going to break out in song with Kumbaya (don't laugh....it could happen).

How many more days until the next election??? (1389 - YIKES). Keep praying!
